Weekend de impacto en Vieques!

Hola #glamsquad!!

Ya oficialmente tengo 32 años de vida y estoy agradecida a Dios por llegar hasta este momento. Mi deseo de cumpleaños era visitar la isla de Vieques y lo pude cumplir!

Un amigo consiguió una villa privada, hicimos un grupo y comenzamos la aventura.

Para mí lo más difícil de ir a Vieques es la llegada y el regreso jaja Lo digo porque nos fuimos en ferry y aunque teníamos taquillas, el calor y el bullicio de la gente era agotador. Hay que ir con mucha paciencia ya que uno va cargando bultos, neveras y varios paquetes dependiendo de los días que te quedes.

Una vez llegamos, todo vuelve a la normalidad y es en ese momento donde sientes que tus vacaciones acaban de comenzar.

La villa tenía una decoración tropical con mensajes muy lindos. Tiene espacio para 9-10 personas con jacuzzi y vista a la playa.


Nos quedamos el fin de semana del 22-25 de julio y lo mas que disfruté fue:

«Beach hoping» Gracias a Avis alquilamos dos jeeps y nos fuimos a explorar las playas de Vieques. Mis favoritas lo fueron: Playa Caracas, La Plata y Pata Prieta («Secret Beach») No hay nada como cantar canciones pegajosas con amistades y guiar sin rumbo jaja 




 Una que me encantó pero que no nos metimos, fue Arena Negra o mejor conocida como «Black Sand Beach». Allí caminamos, disfrutamos del paisaje e hicimos un shooting de piernas jaja


Paseo por el Malecón

Pues les cuento que al principio las calles estaban relax. Me extraño que estuviera tan traquilo para ser un fin de semana largo. Nos estacionamos y caminamos por el área para ver los negocios locales. Me di una curadita bailando salsa y merengue en un pub que se llama «La Nasa». Allí había buena música y al día siguiente visitamos el techo del hotel «El Blok» para bailar y refrescarnos también. 


Lo mejor es que hubo tiempo de ocio, como para hacer un rico bbq, jugar cartas y meterse en el jacuzzi hasta la madrugada.





Entre tantas cosas no pudimos ver la Bahía Bioluminiscente porque la luna no dejaba que se viera. Ni el faro porque era un poco retirado y no nos daba tiempo. 

Para 4 días disfrutamos muchísimo y lo bueno es que tenemos la excusa perfecta para regresar. 
Definitivamente quiero volver… Vieques me dejó enamorada 😍😍😍

Hello #glamsquad !!

Officially I have 32 years of life and I am thankful to God to come so far. One of my birthday wishes was to visit the island of Vieques!

A friend got a private villa, we made a group and started the adventure.

For me the hardest thing to go to Vieques is the arrival and the return haha ​​I say this because we went by ferry and although we had tickwts, the heat and the line of people were exhausting. You should go with a lot of patience as you go carrying backpacks, refrigerators and more depending on the days that you stay.
Once we arrived, everything returns to normal and it is at that point where you feel that your vacation just started.

The villa had a very nice tropical decor with messages. It has room for 9-10 people with Jacuzzi and overlooking the beach.

We stayed the weekend of July 22-25 and I enjoyed the most was:

«Beach hoping» Thanks to Avis rented two jeeps and went to explore the beaches of Vieques. My favorites were: Playa Caracas, La Plata and Pata Prieta ( «Secret Beach») There’s nothing like singing catchy songs with friends and driving around haha

 One that I loved but we did not swim, was Negra Arena or better known as «Black Sand Beach». There we walked, enjoyed the scenery and did a leg photoshoot  haha

Walk through the Malecón

At first it was strange because the streets were relaxed and calm. I wondered why because it was a long weekend. We parked and walked around the area to see the local businesses. I enjoyed dancing salsa and merengue  in a pub called «La Nasa». There was good music and the next day we visited the hotel roof «The Blok» dance and freshen up as well. The best thing is that we could relax too: we played cards, enjoyed a delicious bbq and jumped into the jacuzzi until morning.
Among the many things we did, we couldn’t see the bioluminescent bay because the moon was out. We missed the lighthouse because it was a far away and did not give us time.

Although for four days we had a great time, yet I have the perfect excuse to return.

I definitely want to go back … I’m in love with Vieques 😍😍😍

San Francisco (full experience)

Hoy quiero hablarles de mi experiencia en San Francisco. Viajar es una de mis pasiones y cuando lo hago con amistades es una delicia.
Hay mucho que decir de este viaje que duró una semana y que sin duda fue una experiencia inolvidable.
Los momentos más memorables en San Francisco fueron:
1. El pueblo de Sausalito – la primera palabra que me viene a la mente es que es un lugar ESPECTACULAR! Un área turística, bien concurrida y cuyas casas quedan frente al mar. Esas escenas bellas que ves en las películas, sientes que las vives cuando caminas por las calles de este pueblo. 


2. «Napa Valley»- el poder visitar varios viñedos, conocer su historia y al mismo tiempo disfrutar de varias copas de vino no tiene precio. Uno de mis favoritos fue «Domaine Carneros» ya que se especializaba en el champán. Allí probé varios tipos desde rosado, blanco, espumoso y varios más.
En este sitio las chicas y yo hablamos de todo un poco: de los amores, los trabajos, experiencias de vida etc mientras estábamos rodeadas de la vista de los terrenos, los cuales son demasiado bellos para describir.




3. Calistoga, California- otro pueblo que visitamos para hacer el paseo en globo. Una experiencia única y que confieso me dio nervios al principio. Básicamente éramos como 10 personas y teníamos que crear balance de acuerdo al peso. La experiencia dura como una hora y 20 minutos. Después terminamos con un suculento «brunch» como parte de la oferta.


4. «Golden Gate Bridge»- el lugar más icónico de San Francisco! Si es impresionante verlo en fotos, es más increíble cuando pasas por el puente y ves lo grande e imponente que es, te deja maravillad@!

 Muchas personas lo caminan, algunos lo corren bicicleta y otras como yo hacen el «hop on hop off tour» ya que es una de las paradas oficiales.  


5. Tour de Alcatraz – una de las cárceles mas famosas en nuestra historia. El pisar una de las celdas que cobijó a grandes criminales como Al Capone fue bien impresionante. Sobretodo porque allí vivían familias de los empleados y te das cuenta que tuvieron una vida relativamente normal. Allí nos contaron la historia de como hicieron los criminales para escaparse astutamente. En general, les confieso que aunque el ambiente es turístico, al llegar allí era sobrio, cargado y triste. 



6. «Union Square»- el área donde nos quedamos el cual es céntrica, queda cerca de los trenes de cable eléctrico (transporte típico en SF), las tiendas, restaurantes y de todo un poco. Sin duda fue una decisión muy acertada el quedarnos allí.


7. Casas y áreas famosas – En San Francisco se graban muchas películas y series de tv, asi que no perdimos la oportunidad de ver los lugares o casas en las que se hacían las filmaciones. Ej la casa de «Full House», «Mrs. Doubtfire» y «The Pursuit of Happiness». Hoy día son residencias privadas y no tienen un letrero específico pero las identificamos gracias al internet, porque habían personas tomando fotos y sobretodo por los mensajes emotivos de los fanáticos. En especial cuando fui a la casa de Mrs. Doubtfire no pude evitar emocionarme y sentir tristeza a leer las palabras de los fanáticos sobre la partida de Robin Williams. (QEPD)


8. «Muir Woods»- un bosque monumental con árboles de troncos gigantes. Me encanta estar rodeada de la naturaleza porque te da paz y tranquilidad. Además uno reflexiona sobre las maravillas que Dios hace y en lo afortunados que somos por poder disfrutar de ellas.


9.Comida – ya sea para brunch, almorzar o cenar todo estaba rico! No me viene a la mente algo que no me haya gustado… comimos desde pasta, pizza, hamburgers, cheesecake hasta batida de menta y chocolate de la factoría Ghirardelli. Siempre es bueno preguntarle a los locales que sugieren y el verificar en la aplicación Yelp tambien nos ayudó mucho. En mi publicación anterior sobre SF les comento los nombres de los lugares. (para su referencia)
Sin lugar a dudas San Francisco es un lugar hermoso donde tienes mucho que ver y conocer. Si quieres aventurar, visitar lugares interesantes y sobretodo si eres fanátic@ del vino, aquí debes venir. Te encantará!

Hello #glamsquad!
Today I want to share with you my experience in San Francisco. Traveling is one of my passions and when I do it with friends its a delightful experience. 
There is so much to say about this trip that only lasted a week and was unforgettable.
Incredible moments I enjoyed in San Francisco were:
1. The town of Sausalito – the first word that comes to mind is SPECTACULAR! A busy tourist area and where homes are facing the sea. These beautiful scenes you see in the movies, you feel that you relive them when you walk through the streets of this town.
2. «Napa Valley» – to be able to visit several vineyards, know their history and at the same time enjoy several glasses of wine is priceless. One of my favorites was Domaine Carneros and they specialize in champagne. There I tried several types from pink, white, bubbly among several others.Here the girls and I talked a little of everything: relationships, work, life experiences etc while we were surrounded by the view of the grounds, which were too beautiful to describe.

3. Calistoga, California- another town we visited for the hot air balloon ride. A unique experience that I confess got me nervous at first. Basically we were like 10 people and we had to create balance according to our weight. The experience lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. After we finished with a yummy «brunch» as part of the offer.
4. «Golden Gate Bridge» – the most iconic place in SF, if its impressive to see it in pictures, when you go over the bridge and see how big and imposing it is it, it will leave you breathless. Many people walk it, some run their bikes and others like me do the hop on hop off tour, as it is one of the official stops.
5. Tour of Alcatraz – one of the most famous prisons in our history. When you go inside one of the cells that habored famous criminals like Al Capone its very impressive. Especially because there lived families of employees who had a relatively normal life. They explained us the story of how did the criminals to escape with interesting details and audios. Although the atmosphere is touristy, arriving there was sober, weird and sad.
6. «Union Square» – the area where we stayed, is centrally located, near the train electric cables (SF typical transport), shops, restaurants and a little of everything. It was certainly a very wise decision to stay there.
7. Famous areas & houses – In San Francisco many films and TV series are taped, so we did not lose the opportunity to see places  where films were made. Ex The house of Full House, Mrs. Doubtfire and The Pursuit of Happiness. All are private residences and don’t have a specific sign but we identified them thanks to the internet, because they were people taking pictures and because of the messages left by the fans. A place that touched my heart was when I went to the house of Mrs. Doubtfire I could not help to feel emotional when I was reading the beautiful words from fans to the legendary Robin Williams. (RIP)
8. «Muir Woods» – a monumental forest with trees of giant logs. I love being surrounded by nature because it gives you peace and it is very relaxing. One reflects on the wonders that God creates and how lucky we are to be able to enjoy them.
9. Food – whether for brunch, lunch or dinner everything was delicious! I doesn’t come to mind something that I did not like. We ate from pasta, pizza, hamburgers, cheesecake to mint and chocolate from the Ghirardelli factory. It is always good to ask locals their suggestions and verify the Yelp app which helped us a lot. In my previous post about SF I mention the names of places. (for your reference) 
San Francisco is a beautiful place where you have a lot to see and learn. If you want to venture, know different places and you are a wine fan, you definitely must come here. You’ll love it!

Tips para tu «summer look» (unisex)

Ya estamos disfrutando del verano y su calor intenso jaja 

Para mí el mes de julio es muy especial porque aparte de cumplir años, es uno lleno de reuniones con familia o amistades, actividades y días festivos.

De igual manera uno se divierte con los outfits que va a ponerse de acuerdo a la ocasión y al lugar donde te inviten. 

Aquí les comparto unos consejitos que puedes tomar en cuenta a la hora de arreglarte ya sea de día o de noche. (Algunos funcionan tanto para femenino como masculino)

 Puntos que tomo en cuenta a la hora de salir: 

1. Flores- no soy de las que piensa que el look floral es solo para la primavera. Al contrario, las flores te dan un look tropical y veraniego. Si vives en PR, donde no hay invierno puedes incorporarlo en cualquier momento. Ya sea una corona de flores en tu cabeza o en plataformas, siempre puedes combinarlas a tu estilo y sentirte chic.

2. Trenzas- hay algo romántico y delicado de una buena trenza ya sea de lado, en moño, francesa o en el estilo que te guste. Si vas a la playa o a la placita, te da un toque diferente de la plancha, el blower o los rizos.

Ejemplos:


3. Pantallas con pares distintos- tengo un set de pantallas que cubren la oreja y el cual combino con otras pantallas diferentes. Me gusta mucho esta combinación dispareja porque me siento como una rebelde sin causa, con un «street look» y súper fashion. 

4. Variedad en tus accesorios- aparte de las pantallas, cualquier accesorio que utilices en tu look ya sea para el día o la noche…  es un «must» en tu guardaropa de verano. La ventaja es que te dan un toque diferente que te ayuda a transicionar para un evento de día y despues una salida de noche. Incluso puedes utilizarlos en lugares diferentes para que puedas lucir el accesorio desde otro ángulo.

I hope your enjoying the summer, especially with this intense heat! Jaja
 July is very special to me because its my birthday month but its also an active season filled with activities and get togethers with family and friends.

I also like to play with my outfits depending on the occasion and the place.

Here are a few elements you can think about when planning your summer look.
1.Florals- I honestly don’t believe that florals are just for spring. On the contrary, they are perfect for a summer and tropical look. If you live in Puerto Rico, where there is no winter, you can incorporate them at any moment.

2.Braids- There is something romantic and elegant about a nice braid, whether is on the side, french style, in a bun or in any way you like. If you go to the beach or to a bar, it gives you a different look than using the blow dryer, flat iron or having curly hair.

3. Ear cuffs- I have one in gold and one in silver, each of them I match them with a different pair. I love it because I feel like a rebel that has a modern street style look.

4. Variety in your accesories- Besides your earrings, any accesorie you choose whether its for daytime or nightime, is a must in your summer wardrobe. The advantage is that they give you a different look and they help you transition from day to night. You can also use in different parts of your body and exhibit them from another angle.

San Francisco tour!

Hace unas semanas estuve de vacaciones y les quiero mencionar varios de los lugares que visitamos en San Francisco. 

Si nunca lo has visitado, de verdad lo recomiendo completamente. Tuve la dicha de compartir con 3 chicas especiales y la pasamos de show!

Aquí un listado breve donde les comparto los lugares que visitamos y que nunca voy a olvidar. Más adelante le comparto detalles de mi experiencia.

Que hay de nuevo #glamsquad?

Los tiempos han cambiado y me da tanto gusto saber que cada vez hay más diversidad en la industria de la moda. No importa que talla seas, tu cuerpo es único así que es importante aceptarlo tal como es.

El sábado pasado visité la tienda Delarge y tuve una excelente experiencia.

Delarge es una tienda enfocada en ropa 1x hasta 3x. Allí atienden por cita y como me llamo la atención su estilo moderno y diferente, decidí visitarla acompañada de mi bella prima plus, Nahira.

Tips para chic@s plus:

  • Viste de acuerdo a la proporción y figura de tu cuerpo
  • No tengas miedo a utilizar los colores en tu closet, no todo tiene que ser negro
  • Busca resaltar las partes que mas te gustan de tu cuerpo pero no escondas las que no… utiliza accesorios!!
  • Atrévete a probar estilos diferentes y sal de tu zona de confort

What’s up#glamsquad?

Times have definitely changed and its amazing how we see so much diversity in the fashion industry. No matter what size you are, your body is unique so its important ypu accept it the way it is.

Last saturday I had the chance to visit DeLarge shop and I had a great experience.
DeLarge is a store that has clothes from 1x to 3x and to visit you have to make  an appointment. Since I loved their modern and funky style, I decided to go with my beautiful plus size cousin, Nahira.

See above for the pics and the looks!
Tips for plus size beauties:

  • Dress according to the proportion and figure of your body
  • Don’t be afraid to use colors, not everything has to be black
  • Always highlight your strong points but dont hide the ones you dont like… just accesorize!!!
  • Try different styles and step out of your comfort zone

New York bestie weekend!

En semana santa tuve la gran oportunidad de viajar a NY y celebrar el cumple de mi bestie. 

Es uno de mis lugares favoritos y aunque paseamos a lugares turísticos (como el edificio Empire State, la Estatua de la Libertad, la escultura de LOVE y Times Square) pudimos aventurarnos a otros lugares interesantes:

  • «Columbus Circle» – allí hicimos un paseo en una carroza y fue algo diferente que disfrutamos. Es un área popular donde viven muchos artistas y se graban películas famosas.

  

  • «Cafeteria»- un restaurante donde comes un rico brunch #deimpacto en un ambiente acogedor. Dato interesante: el baño parece un lounge jeje

  

  

  • «The Bronx Ale house»- una barra estilo pub, a unos minutos del apartamento donde nos quedamos y donde hacen unas hamburguesas deliciosas.

  

  • «Fumo-Pizza-Bar-Pasta» – un lugar relajado con música urbana, ideal para compartir con amistades.

   
 

  • Obra musical «Kinky Boots»- fue una mezcla de baile, canto, comedia, drama y botas espectaculares. El mensaje y la actuación fue magistral. La historia gira en torno a una fábrica de zapatos y todo lo que  deciden hacer para reeinventarse y evitar que cierre.

   
 

  • «Karaoke Cave» Literalmente el sitio queda escondido y hay karaoke con canciones tanto en español como en inglés. Espectacular!

  
New York siempre es un lugar especial por lo dinámico y pintoresco que es. Ya sea por pocos días o varias semanas, se los recomiendo ya que es fascinante donde siempre hay algo que hacer y lugares maravillosos por descubrir.

I’m sure we all know that one person that wants to pursue their own business. Personally, I know a lot of people who want to turn their idea into reality but they have a lot of questions like: Where do I start? How do I do it and what resources are available to me?

Movimiento de gratitud / Gratitude movement

 

GRACIAS….

Una palabra relativamente sencilla, pero cuando la decimos en el momento indicado hace una gran diferencia.

La semana pasada tuve el privilegio de asistir a la presentación del libro «Thankious» del joven escritor puertorriqueño, empresario, mercaderista y colega, Paul E. González.

Thankious es un libro que contiene 365 mensajes cortos de gratitud sobre momentos y experiencias que tienen un gran impacto en nuestras vidas. El objetivo es lograr activar un movimiento que se vuelva parte de nuestro día a día, logrando que tengamos una vida más feliz y saludable.

El punto más emotivo de la noche fue cuando Paul le pidió a la audiencia que voluntariamente hablarán del por qué daban gracias ese día. Las respuestas fueron variadas, interesantes y reconfortantes. Cuando me tocó el turno, di gracias porque el 1 de enero de este año tuve un accidente de tránsito que gracias a Dios, solo fue estético. Me quedé dormida despues de salir de la fiesta de despedida de año del hotel Sheraton, a las 5am. (tremendo susto que pasé)  Di gracias porque no arrollé a nadie, porque llegué bien a mi casa y sobretodo porque aún sigo viva.

Todos pasamos por un sinnúmero de situaciones en nuestra vida, pero si nos sentamos a reflexionar y a pensar detenidamente en todas las razones por las que debemos dar gracias, nuestra actitud sería diferente. Allí dio un ejemplo de como las personas de mantenimiento en una empresa son importantes, aunque para otros se considere un trabajo sencillo. Casualmente, esto me hizo reflexionar sobre el porque siempre me ocupo en dar gracias a las chicas que hacen la limpieza. (hasta conozco sus nombres Julie, Annie y Mirelsa)

Ya empecé a leer el libro y se los recomiendo si tienen la oportunidad, porque esta escrito en un lenguaje sencillo, tiene mensajes con los que todos nos podemos identificar, y  es importante promover este movimiento de gratitud.

En un mundo donde estamos rodeados de insensibilidad, noticias negativas y conformismo…. el ser testigo de proyectos como este hace que nos demos cuenta de que no todo esta perdido y que los buenos somos más.

Gracias Paul por recordarnos que siempre hay un motivo para decir «THANKIOU»

THANK YOU….

A relatively simple phrase, but when said at the right time it can make a world of difference.

Last week I had the privilege of attending the book presentation of «Thankious» of the young puertorrican writer, entrepreneur, marketer and colleague, Paul E. González.

Thankious is a book that contains 365 short messages of gratitude about moments and experiences that have an impact on our lives. The objective is to create a movement that becomes part of our daily life, making it a happier and healthier one.

The highlight of the night was when Paul asked the audience to voluntarily explain why they were giving thank you that day. The responses were varied, interesting and comforting. When it was my turn, I gave thanks because on January 1st I had a car accident but thankfully it just damaged the outside of my car. I fell asleep after leaving the New Year’s party at the Sheraton hotel at 5am. I gave thanks because I didn’t hit anyone, I still manage to go home and most importantly because I’m still alive.

We all go through different situations in life, but if we sit down and reflect on the reasons we should be thankful for, our attitude would be completely different. He gave an example of how the cleaning crew have an important role in the business, even if to others it may seem like an easy task. This is why I always say thanks to the ladies that clean the office-I even know their names Julie, Annie and Mirelsa.

I started to read the book and if you have the chance I recommend it, because it’s written in a simple way, it contains messages that we could all identify with and its important to promote this gratitude movement.

In a world where we are surrounded by indifference, negativity, or conformity… to witness a project like this makes us realize that not all is lost and there are more good people out there trying to make a difference.

Thank you Paul for reminding us that there is always a reason to say «THANKIOU»

Wow  y llegó el día que tanto esperaba!

Después de vivir en Suiza un año y regresar a PR, quise reinventarme y transformar el blog que tenía en algo diferente. Ahora quiero hablar de mi vida y las experiencias que he tenido en muchas áreas: moda, belleza, viajes, empresarismo, eventos, arte, mercadeo y de todo un poco!

Si me preguntas como defino este blog sería uno estilo «lifestyle» porque hablaré sobre todos mis intereses sin encasillarme en un tema en específico. En este espacio no hay limitaciones y mi opinion es 100% real.

El nombre oficial es Carla Janelle porque pocos conocen mi Segundo nombre y es en honor a una Miss Universo (1977, Janelle Commissiong). Mi papa quedó impactado con su belleza y junto con mi madre me pusieron ese nombre. Carla, porque mi papá se llamaba Carlos y Janelle por la Miss Universo. Curioso no? Jaja

Con mucho cariño y emoción los invito a mi mundo que si bien no es perfecto, si les puedo asegurar esta lleno de personas maravillosas y momentos inolvidables.

Wow… and the day has finally arrived!

After living in Switzerland for a year and returning back to Puerto Rico, I’ve decided to reinvent myself and transform this blog into something different. Now I want to talk about my life and the experiences I’ve had in different areas like: fashion, beauty, travels, entrepreneurship, events, art, marketing and a little bit of everything!

My goal is to inspire you who are reading this and to help you see everything from a positive perspective, to help you reach those dreams that your are constantly thinking about, to keep moving forward no matter what anyone says….ultimately to LIVE THIS AMAZING PATH OF LIFE! Specially to offer you advice, tips, suggestions and anything that can help your daily routine.

If you ask me how do I define this blog, I would say its a lifestyle one because I will talk about all of my interests without focusing on a specific area. This space is not limited to anything and my opinion is 100% real.

The official name is Carla Janelle because there are very few people who know my middle name and it is in honor of a former Miss Universe (1977, Janelle Commissiong) My dad was captivated by her beauty and with my mom, they gave me that name. Carla, the female version of my dad’s name Carlos and Janelle honoring that Miss Universe. Interesting right? Haha
